ACGA Features in The JoongAng of Korea

Stephanie Lin, ACGA’s Research Head for Korea and Singapore, was recently featured in a written interview on 15 April 2025 with The JoongAng, a leading Korean news outlet, where she discussed key AGM and proxy voting system challenges in the market. The interview drew on ACGA’s research report Navigating the Korea AGM Maze, released in November 2024, which outlines a range of systemic issues in Korea’s AGM and proxy voting framework. In the interview, Stephanie highlighted one of the most critical problems:

“The short 14-day notice period for AGM convocations is outdated and lags far behind global standards. The global best practice is 28 days, which allows shareholders—particularly foreign investors—adequate time to review materials and engage meaningfully. Korea’s current timeline significantly undermines shareholder participation.”
