First User Workshop for IFRS Financial Statement in Hong Kong

2017-02-28

A workshop, jointly organised by the IFRS Foundation Asia-Oceania office and Nomura Research Institute (NRI) Japan, was held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, in Hong Kong. The topic of the workshop was "First User Workshop for IFRS Financial Statements in Hong Kong".

Following meetings in Japan over the past two years, this is the first time that such an event has been held in Hong Kong. The purpose of the workshop was to share day-to-day problems that users of IFRS financial statements face, and to provide input to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). The workshop discussed the IASB's current project, titled "Better Communication", then NRI will explain the issues from previous workshops in Japan and problems with the content of auditor reports. The agenda will then focus on whether similar issues exist in Hong Kong and any other important financial reporting challenges here.
