AmCham Shanghai's webinar on Sustainable Business Leadership

2022-06-02

Nana Li, China Research Director, spoke in a webinar on the topic of “Sustainable Business Leadership” hosted by AmCham Shanghai's Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility Committee on 2 June 2022.

Session Synopsis:
In a time where the challenges of environment, society, and economy are matched only by the speed of regulations and rising expectations of stakeholders, some businesses may look at addressing sustainability as a short-term tactic, but for others, this may be a time to show leadership.

The leadership of an issue, like water stewardship, takes ownership over a known problem, such as waste, or supports the development of policies or collaborations that will support a significant, sustainable, shift in their industry.

Taking leadership, and finding the balance between the pressures of short-term goals and long-term economic, social, and environmental firms will put them in a position to see their brands championed by consumers, able to attract top talent, and in China, can often use their work as a way to engage constructively with government agencies, academic institutions, industry associations, and the media.
