MAICSA Conference on “AGM of the Future”

Jamie Allen, ACGA Secretary General, was a speaker for a virtual panel discussion on the “AGM of the Future” at the 2020 Annual Governance Conference of the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA). The theme of the 2 December event was “New Decade Governance – Influence • Strategy • Impact”.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a great number of restrictions have been imposed to curb the spread of the virus, including the holding of physical Annual General Meetings (AGMs). Practitioners are constantly looking for guidance in holding AGMs. In the “AGM of the Future” panel, Jamie talked about the impact of COVID-19 on general meetings in Asia with a special focus on ASEAN. The session also covered practices on virtual/hybrid AGMs of public listed companies in Singapore and tips in managing the virtual/hybrid AGMs effectively.
