Discussion at the Deacons Forum, Hong Kong

Jamie Allen, Secretary General, was invited to speak at a panel discussion at the Deacons In-house Corporate Counsel Forum 2019 on “Demystifying Hong Kong's corporate governance culture” at the Conrad Hotel in Hong Kong on 9 October 2019.

Introduction
Corporate governance has long been a hot topic for corporates in both Hong Kong and abroad. Good corporate governance practice is often believed to be a key element for improvement in corporate performance, reduction in corporate mismanagement, and enhancement of investors’ confidence. The panel discussed how Hong Kong companies measure up against their regional counterparts in corporate governance standards, differences in performance between listed and non-listed companies in Hong Kong, and recent corporate governance developments in Hong Kong, as well as areas for improvement.
