Indonesia Advocacy
ACGA advocacy in Indonesia began in 2008 when we wrote to the then capital markets supervisory authority, Bapepam, opposing a plan to increase the threshold for mandatory general offers from 25% to 50%. In 2013, we wrote about shareholder meetings and proxy voting--urging greater transparency around the directors and commissioners nominated for election and clearer vote counting. The following year the new Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) published a "CG Roadmap" that aimed to significantly raise CG standards in Indonesia and addressed some of the AGM/voting challenges.

In November 2015, we led a delegation of ACGA investor members to Jakarta for meetings with regulatory agencies, listed companies (state and private), and institutional investors. In February 2017, we visited Jakarta and presented the findings of "CG Watch 2016" to the OJK and key corporate governance stakeholders.
