Jamie Allen represented ACGA at the HKICS seminar "ESG - A Good Idea; What Could Possibly Go Wrong?" on 18 January 2019.

Synopsis of the seminar
Where an idea is generally accepted as a good one - like with ESG - critical analysis gives way. This then reduces due scrutiny and questioning of the concept. The end result, while unintended, is the inhibition of the development of practical applications of the concept.

This seminar therefore seeks a critical analysis of the concept of ESG by challenging it, and bringing out areas where the concept could be weak in principle or in practice - then to seek to tackle, manage, mitigate them, and in the last resort, just admit and accept these limitations.

This seminar is organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) in partnership with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
