Shareholder Activism in Asia -- Four Years On
On November 24, 2004, ACGA gave our first lecture at the Law Faculty, Hong Kong University, on the topic of shareholder activism in Asia. Our presentation outlined why activism was important to capital market and economic development in Asia, how the activism "pyramid" had evolved between 2000 and 2004, the difference between public activism/criticism and private engagement/negotiation, the emergence of shareholder voting, and some examples of activism and engagement in Asia.
