ACGA's annual conference, the "Asian Business Dialogue on Corporate Governance 2017", will be returning to India for the first time since 2008. The conference will be held over November 14-15, 2017 at the Trident Hotel, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. Here is the most updated draft programme for your perusal.

Conference theme: "Nurturing Corporate Governance Ecosystems in Asia"

The conference will begin with an Opening Dialogue with Shri Ajay Tyagi, Chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India.

Plenary sessions:

  • Asia Overview: Key developments around the Region and an analysis of what has changed in India since 2008.  
  • The ACGA Debate: “Only minority shareholders should be allowed to vote on independent directors.”
  • The Chairman’s Dialogue: "Why do so many listed companies in Asia still view corporate governance as a compliance exercise?"

  • Next Steps for Ecosystem Enhancement in Asia: FIve to six workshops covering major stakeholder groups: Investors, Listed companies, Regulators, Auditors, Media/NGOs, Government/Public Institutions. What are the next steps for ecosystem enhancement?
November 15, 2017
  • Market Focus on India and China: Separate workshops delving more deeply into public and corporate governance trends in both countries, looking at issues of relevance to investors, companies, auditors and regulators.
