CalPERS Global Principles of Accountable Corporate Governance
The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), an ACGA member and the largest pension fund in the US, revised its "Global Principles of Accountable Corporate Governance" this year. For more details and the full report, see our Member Research page.


ACGA Chubb-Solidarity Presentation
On April 16, ACGA gave a presentation at a corporate governance seminar, organised by Chubb Insurance and Solidarity Group in Bahrain, on "The Benefits of Corporate Governance to Emerging Economies". ACGA Korea Briefing, Hong Kong
On January 15, 2008, we held our first briefing of the year in Hong Kong, a discussion led by ACGA member Young Joon Kim, Partner, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, on Korea's new president-elect, Lee Myung-bak, and what to expect in terms of economic policy and corporate governance reform once Mr. Lee takes office on February 25. A copy of the discussion is now available to ACGA members in our Premium Content section.

CG Watch 2007
"CG Watch 2007: On a Wing and a Prayer", our fourth joint survey of corporate governance in Asia undertaken in collaboration with CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, was published in late 2007 and is available to members in our Premium Content section.

Codes and Rules
We have updated our Codes and Rules sections by adding the Combined Consultation Paper issued by the Hong Kong Exchange for Hong Kong as well as the revised Code of Corporate Governance and the Companies (Amendment) Bill 2007 for Malaysia.


Grant Thornton Corporate Governance Review 2007
Grant Thornton, an ACGA member, has published a corporate governance review of Hong Kong listed companies for 2007. For more details, see our Member Research page.


ACGA 2007 Conference: Closing Speech
The closing keynote speech at our 7th annual conference in Tokyo was given by Mr. Tomomi Yano, Executive Managing Director, Pension Fund Association, Japan, on the topic, "The Critical Role of Investors in Strengthening Corporate Governance in Japan". ACGA 2007 Conference: Opening Speech

ACGA 2007 Conference: Audience Voting Results
Conference delegates were asked a series of 20 questions in both the plenary and workshop sessions on a range of issues relating to corporate governance in Japan and elsewhere. The results are available to all users under ACGA News.


ACGA 2007 Conference: Highlights
ACGA held its seventh annual conference--the "Asian Business Dialogue on Corporate Governance 2007"--at the Conrad Hotel in Tokyo on Thursday, November 8, 2007. Around 180 people attended from 10 Asian countries in addition to Japan, with delegates also flying in from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US, Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, Oman and Israel. New Developments in Corporate Governance in Asia
On November 7, 2007, ACGA co-organised a seminar in Tokyo with White & Case and the Alternative Investment Management Association, Japan on the subject, "New Developments in Corporate Governance in Asia". CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, an ACGA member, provided the other speaker. Our presentations are available to all users in the Speeches section of our website (under ACGA Archive).


ACGA Submission to Singapore Government
ACGA recently submitted a paper to the Singapore Government outlining our views on legal obstacles that stand in the way of institutional investors who wish to attend shareholder meetings in Singapore, known as the “two proxy card issue”. The paper recommends resolving the issue by amending both the Companies Act and the Listing Manual. The full text of the paper can be viewed in ACGA News.
